Program Setup:
Helmets:
Lay out at least one per person (a few extra for popular sizes) – check with instructors for group number
Group them by size
Bikes:
Lay out at least one per person (a few extra for popular sizes/based on ability grid) – check with instructors for group number/sizes
Group them by size (small => extra large)
Program Specifics:
If enough available, grab an instructor pack/radio
Support with getting bikes/helmets fitted following opening circle
Teach participants how to shift gears/where brakes are/etc.
You will be assigned a spot within the group ride (likely float/in the middle) – vocalize your comfort level on leading the group
You should never be alone with a participant on a ride out of sight of the rest of the group
If you know how to change a tire/realign a chain, feel free to do so if the need arises but only do so if you’re comfortable and confident doing so
NAC Paddle Sports Reference Card

Program Setup:
Boats:
Lay them on the rocks along the boat ramp – check in with instructors about number/kinds of boats
Paddles:
Put paddles near boats – check with instructors about number/kinds of paddles
PFDs:
Lay out one PFD per participant along the curb of the concrete pad
Straps fully extended
Only lay out Type 1 PFDs if needed
Program Specifics:
Support (and constantly check throughout the program) the fitting of participants in PFDs
Tight enough that if you pull on shoulder straps, they don’t reach the bottom of their ears
All buckles (including the bottom one) is buckled
Shoulder straps are tightened
Everyone has a PFD if they are in the water at all
Participants must have shoes on unless they are actively in a vessel
Support in maintaining boundaries where participants are boating/swimming
Paddle with/tow participant boats as necessary

Get shoes/harness from front counter if necessary

Climber ties in with figure 8 follow-through (assist them with tying it if necessary)
Complete partner check of climber:
Check harness fits correctly and is double backed
Check rope is tied into correct spot on the harness
Check knot is tied correctly
5 pairs/parallel of rope
2 fists of tail
Complete check of belayer:
Check harness fits correctly and is double backed
Check belay device and locking carabiner are clipped into correct spot
Check belay device is loaded correctly
Check carabiner is fully locked
PBUS belay method ONLY
Pull, Brake, Under, Slide
Belayer never lets go of brake strand
